Learning at Filton Avenue Nursery School

We believe that children learn best by doing. At Filton Avenue Nursery School we have provided an indoor and outdoor environment that provides a wide range of materials for children to choose to use, explore and investigate on their own, with friends and with the support of adults.

Every child is an individual. They will have their own ways of learning, their own interests and ideas. To enable each child to reach their full potential we follow an approach to learning called High/Scope. Adults support children to make their own choices, follow through their ideas, solve their own problems and take risks. We use this along with the government guidelines for 0-5 year olds called the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We work in close partnership with parents. Every child has a learning diary in which parents can track their child's learning. We have open days and parent consultations 3 times a year and there is always a member of staff available to talk to on a daily basis.
